Acerca de esta herramienta

A continuous, MonkeyType-style typing test: words per minute, accuracy and consistency, scored against a fixed countdown of 15, 30 or 60 seconds instead of a fixed passage. Words stream past endlessly as you type - there is no finish line to reach, just how far you get before time runs out. Any finished run can become a "challenge link" that encodes the word seed, duration and your score into the URL itself, no account or backend required. Whoever opens that link races the identical word stream for the identical duration, and their result is compared to yours automatically - an asynchronous score comparison via a shared link, not a live multiplayer race, and the tool says so plainly rather than implying real-time competition.

Cómo usar esta herramienta

  1. Pick a duration15, 30 or 60 seconds.
  2. Start typingThe timer starts on your first keystroke. Correct and incorrect characters highlight live, and new words keep streaming in as you clear each one. Pasting is disabled.
  3. Check your resultsWPM, characters per minute, accuracy and a percentile against illustrative global scores, plus a personal-best tracker saved locally per duration.
  4. Pick a typing font (optional)Switch the font the word stream renders in from the selector next to the title.
  5. Challenge a friend (optional)Copy a link that encodes your score, word seed and duration, for a friend to try to beat on the identical word stream.

Por qué usarla

  • Continuous word-stream format - no fixed passage to memorize the rhythm of, closer to real typing.
  • A challenge link needs no account or server - the word seed, duration and score are encoded directly in the URL.
  • A personal best is tracked locally per duration, so you always have your own bar to beat even without a challenge.
  • Ten selectable typing fonts, plus a live percentile comparison against illustrative global scores.
  • Paste is disabled during a race as a basic anti-cheat measure.
  • A downloadable result card for sharing a good run.
  • Runs entirely in your browser - nothing you type is ever uploaded.

Usos comunes

  • Practicing typing speed and accuracy without an account.
  • A friendly typing competition over a shared link in a group chat.
  • Warming up before a task that requires a lot of typing.
  • Tracking personal improvement across repeated 15/30/60-second runs.

Consejos para mejores resultados

  • Accuracy matters as much as speed - a fast run full of mistakes scores lower than a slightly slower, cleaner one.
  • The challenge link only compares scores after both people finish - it does not race in real time.
  • Try 60 seconds once 15 feels too short; longer runs are more representative of sustained typing speed.
  • A physical keyboard gives more representative results than a touchscreen.

Errores a evitar

  • Expecting the challenge link to be a live, synchronized race - it compares two separately-run results on the identical word stream instead.
  • Trying to paste text in to skip typing - paste is disabled during a race by design.
  • Comparing WPM across different durations - 15-second and 60-second runs are not directly comparable.

Preguntas frecuentes

No. It encodes your finished result, word seed and duration into a shareable link. Whoever opens it races the same word stream on their own, and the two scores are compared afterward - not simultaneously.

It is a basic anti-cheat measure - typing speed tests are only meaningful if the text is actually typed, not pasted in.

No. The race, timing and scoring all happen locally in your browser. Only a completed score (not your keystrokes) is encoded into a challenge link if you choose to create one.

Correct characters divided by five (the standard "word" length used in typing tests), divided by the elapsed time in minutes.

It works, but a physical keyboard gives more representative results - the tool shows a note on touchscreen devices.

It is saved in your browser's local storage per duration, so it persists between visits on the same device and browser, but is not synced anywhere else.

Yes. Typing Race is free for normal use with no account required, and ToolBox does not add a watermark to your result.

Most tools in this category run in your browser so the file stays on your device. If a tool needs a temporary server job, files are handled for that job only and are not kept as a lasting archive.
