Recording audio used to mean installing something. Browsers now handle it natively through the MediaRecorder API, which is what this uses - your microphone feeds straight into the page, and the resulting file downloads to your device without ever reaching a server. That last point is the one worth dwelling on, because voice recordings are among the most personal files people create: interviews, medical notes, private memos, confidential meetings. Most free online recorders upload to process. This one does not, and it cannot, because there is no server involved in the recording at all. The quality you get depends almost entirely on things outside the software. A laptop's built-in microphone in a room with hard surfaces will sound hollow no matter what records it, while a cheap headset microphone close to your mouth sounds markedly better. Distance and room reflections matter more than equipment price.
