This tool does those conversions with exact constants (31.1035 g per troy ounce, 11.6638 g per tola) and shows 24K down to 10K side by side, so you can see what your own piece is worth rather than the pure-gold headline number. - Weigh the piece on a kitchen or jewellery scale in grams - that is the most accurate input.
- If a hallmark says 916, that is 22K; 750 is 18K and 585 is 14K.
- Stones and clasps are not gold, so subtract their weight before valuing.
- The tola figure is the South Asian tola of 11.6638 g, which is the standard across Pakistan and India.
- Silver moves in much larger percentage swings than gold, so re-check the rate on the day you trade.
- A cached label means the feed was briefly unreachable - reload in a minute for a fresh quote.
Erreurs à éviter
- Comparing a 22K item against the 24K headline rate, which overstates its value by about 8 percent.
- Using an avoirdupois ounce (28.35 g) instead of a troy ounce (31.10 g) - metals are always troy.
- Expecting a buyer to pay spot. Dealers buy below spot and jewellers add making charges on top.
- Including the weight of stones, enamel or a non-gold clasp in the calculation.
- Assuming the local rate in a shop window matches the world price - it usually includes duty and margin.

Take the live 24K rate per gram shown above and multiply by the purity of your item. A gram of 24K is the headline number; 22K is about 91.6% of it, 18K is 75% and 14K is 58.3%. Set the weight to 1 gram and the karat to match your piece and the tool does exactly that.
World markets quote gold per troy ounce, which is 31.1035 grams - not the 28.35 g avoirdupois ounce. Divide the spot price per troy ounce by 31.1035 to get the 24K price per gram, then multiply by your karat purity. The rate shown here is already converted, so you only need to pick a karat and enter a weight.
Multiply the per-gram rate for your karat by the weight. Enter any weight in the calculator and switch the unit - grams, tola, troy ounces, pounds, kilograms, metric tonnes or US short tons are all supported, so the same answer works whether you are valuing an earring or a bullion bar.
It depends which ton you mean, and the difference is large. A metric tonne is 1,000 kg (1,000,000 grams); a US short ton is 907.185 kg. Both are in the unit list so you can price either without converting by hand. At any realistic gold price a single tonne runs into tens of millions, so treat the figure as indicative and check the timestamp on the rate.
This shows metal value at the market rate. A dealer buys below spot to cover their margin and refining, and a jeweller adds making charges on top when selling. Expect a real-world buy offer somewhere under the number here - the calculator tells you the floor you are negotiating against, not the price on the ticket.
The world price is quoted per troy ounce. We convert that to a per-gram price by dividing by 31.1034768, then multiply by 11.6638038 grams to get one tola. Those are the exact constants, so the tola figure matches what a jeweller would compute.
Karat is purity. 24K is essentially pure gold, 22K is 91.67 percent, 21K is 87.5 percent and 18K is 75 percent. The per-karat table multiplies the pure gold rate by that fraction, which is why an 18K item is worth roughly three quarters of a 24K one at the same weight.
No, and no tool can promise that. This is the spot value of the metal. A buyer pays below spot to cover their margin and refining, and a shop selling to you adds making charges on top. Treat this as the benchmark you negotiate around.
