À propos de cet outil

PNG and JPG solve different problems, and converting between them is usually about file size. PNG stores every pixel exactly as it was - lossless, with support for transparency - which is ideal for logos, screenshots and anything with sharp text or flat colour. Photographs are the opposite case: they are full of subtle gradients the eye cannot track precisely, so JPG's lossy compression can discard a great deal of data and still look identical. The practical result is that a photo saved as PNG is often five to ten times larger than the same photo as JPG, with no visible benefit. This converter runs entirely in your browser: your images are decoded to a canvas and re-encoded as JPG on your own device, so nothing is uploaded, and there is no queue, no account and no watermark.

Comment utiliser cet outil

  1. Add your PNG filesDrag them onto the drop zone or browse to select. You can convert several at once rather than repeating the process per file.
  2. Set the quality levelThe default suits most photos. Higher keeps more detail at a larger size; lower shrinks the file further. The preview updates so you can judge it directly.
  3. ConvertEach image is decoded and re-encoded as JPG in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server at any point.
  4. DownloadSave individual files, or download everything at once when you have converted a batch.

Pourquoi l’utiliser

  • Photographs typically drop to a fraction of their PNG size, which is the whole reason to convert.
  • Runs on your device, so personal photos and unreleased work never leave it.
  • Batch conversion, so a folder of screenshots or camera exports is one operation.
  • No account, no upload limit per file count, and no watermark added to the output.
  • Your original PNG files are left untouched - new JPG files are produced alongside them.

Usages courants

  • Shrinking camera or phone photos before emailing them or attaching them to a form.
  • Preparing images for a website, where PNG photos would slow the page down noticeably.
  • Meeting an upload size limit on a job portal, visa application or government form.
  • Converting design exports that were saved as PNG by default but are really photographs.
  • Reducing the size of a photo library for backup or sharing without re-shooting anything.

Conseils pour de meilleurs résultats

  • Convert photographs, not graphics. A logo, screenshot or diagram with text will look worse as JPG and often gets no smaller.
  • If the image has transparency you want to keep, do not convert it - JPG cannot store transparency at all.
  • Quality around 80 is the usual sweet spot: most of the size saving, with no difference visible at normal viewing size.
  • Convert from your original PNG rather than an already-compressed JPG. Re-encoding a JPG repeatedly degrades it each time.
  • If you need a specific file size, convert first and then use the Resize Image to KB tool to hit an exact target.

Erreurs à éviter

  • Converting screenshots and UI mockups. Sharp edges and text develop visible fringing under JPG compression; keep those as PNG.
  • Expecting transparency to survive. Transparent areas are filled with a solid background, which is often a surprise on logos.
  • Pushing quality to the minimum to save space. Blocking artefacts appear well before the file gets meaningfully smaller.
  • Converting the same image back and forth between formats. Each JPG save loses a little more detail permanently.

Questions fréquentes

Add your PNG files above, choose a quality level, and click convert. Each file is re-encoded as JPG on your own device and downloads immediately. No sign-up and no upload are involved.

Yes, completely. There is no account, no trial, no per-day conversion limit and no watermark on the output.

No. The conversion uses your browser's own canvas and image decoder, so the files never leave your device. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.

PNG is lossless: it records every pixel exactly, which is expensive for photographs because they contain millions of slightly different colours. JPG discards detail the human eye is poor at noticing, so photographic images compress dramatically better.

Neither is better overall - they suit different content. Use JPG for photographs, where the size saving is large and the quality loss is invisible. Use PNG for logos, screenshots, diagrams, text and anything needing a transparent background.

JPG has no transparency channel, so transparent pixels are filled with a solid background colour, normally white. If the transparency matters, keep the file as PNG or convert to WebP instead, which supports both compression and transparency.

Slightly, because JPG is lossy - but at normal quality settings the difference is not visible on a photograph at ordinary viewing size. On graphics and text the loss is much more noticeable, which is why those should stay as PNG.

Yes. Add as many as you like and they are processed one after another in your browser, then downloaded together. Very large batches use browser memory, so close heavy tabs if you are converting hundreds of files.

No. The pixel dimensions stay exactly the same; only the encoding changes. If you also need smaller dimensions, use the Image Resizer before or after converting.

Yes. It runs in any modern mobile browser, and because processing happens on the device, speed depends on your phone rather than on a server queue.
