This converts between units in four categories: length, weight, temperature and digital data. Three of those work by multiplication - a metre is always 3.28084 feet, a kilogram always 2.20462 pounds, so conversion is a single fixed factor. Temperature is the exception, and it is the one people get wrong. Celsius and Fahrenheit have different zero points as well as different scale steps, so converting requires subtracting, scaling and adding rather than multiplying by one number. That is why 20°C is 68°F rather than any simple multiple. Data units carry their own long-running ambiguity: a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes to a drive manufacturer and 1,024 to an operating system, which is exactly why a "500 GB" disk shows up as about 465 GB in your file explorer.
