Live gold and silver rates, converted into the units people actually buy in. Metal is quoted per troy ounce on world markets, but almost nobody shops that way - jewellers price per gram and per tola, and by karat. This tool does those conversions with exact constants (31.1035 g per troy ounce, 11.6638 g per tola) and shows 24K down to 10K side by side, so you can see what your own piece is worth rather than the pure-gold headline number. Pick from 15 currencies, enter a weight, and get an instant valuation. Rates are cached briefly and clearly marked if the live feed is unreachable.

These numbers are the kind you check twice before sending a quote, a tax form or a loan application. The tool does the arithmetic; you still own the inputs.

Gold Price Calculator is a good fit when checking what a gold chain or bangle is worth before selling it.

In plain English

Gold Price Calculator is built around a few practical wins, not a long feature list:

  • Per gram, per tola and per troy ounce at the same time, so you can compare a local quote against the world price.
  • Karat table from 24K to 10K with the exact purity used for each, not a rounded guess.
  • 15 currencies including USD, GBP, PKR and INR, converted through live FX rather than a fixed rate.
  • A weight calculator that values a real piece instead of just quoting the spot price.
  • Cached rates are labelled as cached, so you always know whether you are seeing a live number.
  • Free, instant and no signup.

How to run it

  1. Pick metal and currency. Choose gold or silver and one of 15 currencies. The rate is fetched live and the headline price updates immediately.
  2. Choose your purity. Select the karat that matches your item - 22K and 21K are the usual jewellery grades, 24K is pure bullion. Silver is sold unkarated, so that control switches off.
  3. Enter a weight. Type the weight and pick grams, tola, troy ounces or kilograms. The estimated value updates as you type.

Real situations

  • Checking what a gold chain or bangle is worth before selling it.
  • Comparing a jeweller quote against the current world spot price.
  • Working out the metal value of an inherited piece by weight and karat.
  • Tracking the gold rate in your own currency rather than dollars per ounce.
  • Estimating the bullion value of coins or small bars.
  • Settling a family discussion about tola versus gram pricing.

Small habits that help

  • Weigh the piece on a kitchen or jewellery scale in grams - that is the most accurate input.
  • If a hallmark says 916, that is 22K; 750 is 18K and 585 is 14K.
  • Stones and clasps are not gold, so subtract their weight before valuing.
  • The tola figure is the South Asian tola of 11.6638 g, which is the standard across Pakistan and India.
  • Silver moves in much larger percentage swings than gold, so re-check the rate on the day you trade.

Skip these

  • Comparing a 22K item against the 24K headline rate, which overstates its value by about 8 percent.
  • Using an avoirdupois ounce (28.35 g) instead of a troy ounce (31.10 g) - metals are always troy.
  • Expecting a buyer to pay spot. Dealers buy below spot and jewellers add making charges on top.
  • Including the weight of stones, enamel or a non-gold clasp in the calculation.
  • Assuming the local rate in a shop window matches the world price - it usually includes duty and margin.

Does anything leave your device?

Gold Price Calculator needs the ToolBox API for work a browser cannot do. What you submit is processed, then discarded. It is not kept as a library of your files.

If this is one step in a longer job, these usually come after it:

Open the Gold Price Calculator when you are ready. It is free, and you do not need an account.
