Sobre esta ferramenta

Markdown lets you write formatted text using plain symbols - # for a heading, ** around bold text, - for a list item - so the source stays readable even before it is rendered. That property is why it took over technical writing: a README, a changelog or documentation stays legible in a terminal, diffs cleanly in version control, and can never be corrupted by a word processor's invisible formatting. The syntax you need day to day is small. Hash symbols for headings, asterisks for emphasis, hyphens for bullets, square brackets and parentheses for links, backticks for code. Everything else is refinement. The one thing to know is that "Markdown" is not a single standard: GitHub adds tables, task lists and strikethrough, and other platforms vary in what they support. This preview follows standard rendering, which covers the vast majority of cases. Editing and preview both happen in your browser, so drafts are never uploaded.

Como usar esta ferramenta

  1. Write in the editorUse # for headings, ** for bold, - for bullets, and [text](url) for links.
  2. Watch the live previewThe rendered output updates as you type, so formatting mistakes are visible immediately.
  3. Check the structureOne h1 at the top, then h2 sections beneath it. Skipping heading levels reads badly in rendered output.
  4. Copy it where you need itGitHub, a documentation site, a blogging platform, Slack or Discord - all accept standard Markdown.

Por que usar

  • Live preview, so you see the rendered result rather than guessing from the source.
  • Source stays readable even unrendered, which is why Markdown suits version control.
  • Runs in your browser - unpublished documentation and drafts are never uploaded.
  • No account and no length limit.
  • Output is portable plain text that works across every platform that supports Markdown.

Usos comuns

  • Writing a README or project documentation before committing it.
  • Drafting a blog post for a platform that accepts Markdown.
  • Checking how a formatted comment or issue will render before posting.
  • Taking structured notes that stay readable in any editor.
  • Learning Markdown syntax by seeing the result immediately.

Dicas para melhores resultados

  • Leave a blank line between paragraphs. Markdown needs it - a single newline is treated as a continuation of the same paragraph.
  • Use one h1 per document, at the top, then h2 for sections. Rendered output and accessibility both depend on that order.
  • Wrap code in backticks, and use triple backticks with a language name for blocks to get syntax highlighting.
  • Tables, task lists and strikethrough are GitHub extensions rather than core Markdown - verify support on your destination.
  • Indent nested list items by two spaces. Inconsistent indentation is the most common reason nesting fails to render.

Erros a evitar

  • Expecting a single newline to create a paragraph break. Markdown requires a blank line.
  • Skipping heading levels - jumping from h1 to h3 - which produces poor structure for readers and screen readers.
  • Assuming every platform supports the same syntax. GitHub-flavoured extensions do not exist everywhere.
  • Mixing raw HTML with Markdown on a platform that strips it, so the formatting silently disappears.
  • Inconsistent list indentation, which breaks nesting in ways that are hard to spot in the source.

Perguntas frequentes

Copy it into any platform that supports Markdown - GitHub READMEs, blogging platforms, documentation sites, Discord/Slack messages, and many note-taking apps all accept standard Markdown syntax.

The preview follows standard Markdown rendering, which covers the vast majority of platforms - some platforms have minor extensions or restrictions on top of standard Markdown, so double-check on the destination platform for anything unusual.

No - editing and previewing happen entirely in your browser, so unpublished documentation and drafts never leave your device.

# for headings (more hashes for deeper levels), **bold**, *italic*, - for bullet points, 1. for numbered lists, [text](url) for links, and backticks for code. That covers almost everything you will write day to day.

Because Markdown treats a single newline as a continuation of the same paragraph. Leave a blank line between paragraphs, or end a line with two spaces to force a break within one.

No. Tables, task lists and strikethrough are GitHub-flavoured extensions rather than core Markdown, so support varies. Check on the platform you are publishing to before relying on them.

Yes. Markdown Editor is free for normal use with no account required, and ToolBox does not add a watermark to your result.

Most tools in this category run in your browser so the file stays on your device. If a tool needs a temporary server job, files are handled for that job only and are not kept as a lasting archive.
