Acerca de esta herramienta

Zakat is the fixed share of surplus wealth that becomes due once your holdings stay above the nisab for a lunar year. The rate most people apply to cash, gold, silver, trade goods and similar assets is 2.5% (one fortieth). This calculator adds those categories in any currency, lets you value gold by weight and karat or by a known price, supports gold-based or silver-based nisab, and subtracts debts you choose to deduct. Optional live metal rates reuse the same feed as the gold price tool; if the feed is down you can type a local per-gram price instead. Madhhab notes are reminders only, not fatwas. Everything runs in your browser, so the numbers never leave your device.

Cómo usar esta herramienta

  1. Pick currency and nisab basisChoose your currency, then gold-based (87.48 g) or silver-based (612.36 g) nisab. Silver nisab is usually lower in money terms.
  2. Set gold and silver pricesFetch live rates or enter a local price per gram. Weight mode multiplies grams by purity and that price.
  3. Enter your assets and debtsAdd cash, metals, investments, business goods and receivables, then deduct liabilities you want to subtract.
  4. Read zakat due and the breakdownIf net wealth is above nisab, zakat is 2.5% of that net. Copy or share the summary when you are ready.

Por qué usarla

  • Works worldwide with a full currency list, not a single-country preset.
  • Gold by weight and karat, or by value; silver the same way.
  • Gold or silver nisab toggle with classical gram thresholds.
  • Optional live metal rates with manual fallback defaults.
  • Clear breakdown: assets, debts, nisab check and zakat due.
  • Private in your browser with no account and no upload.

Usos comunes

  • Estimating annual zakat before Ramadan or your hawl anniversary.
  • Valuing jewellery by grams and karat against today's gold rate.
  • Comparing gold-based versus silver-based nisab for the same portfolio.
  • Including business inventory and receivables in one total.
  • Producing a copyable summary to discuss with a local scholar.

Consejos para mejores resultados

  • Use the market value of trade goods and investments as of your zakat date, not the purchase price.
  • For gold, karat matters: 22K is 22/24 of the fine gold price for the same weight.
  • Silver-based nisab often brings more people above the threshold when silver is cheap relative to gold.
  • Only deduct debts that your school treats as reducing zakatable wealth; rules differ.
  • Re-check metal prices on the day you pay, especially if you hold a lot of jewellery.

Errores a evitar

  • Forgetting jewellery or coins that sit outside the bank balance.
  • Using 24K pricing on 18K or 22K pieces without adjusting for purity.
  • Counting the full value of a mortgaged home as zakatable cash (personal residence rules differ widely).
  • Treating this estimate as a final religious ruling without checking madhhab details.
  • Leaving receivables or business stock out when they are clearly surplus wealth.

Preguntas frecuentes

Nisab is the minimum net wealth that must be reached before zakat becomes due. Classically it is the value of 87.48 grams of pure gold or 612.36 grams of pure silver. This tool lets you pick either basis and converts those weights using your gold or silver price per gram.

Add cash, gold, silver, stocks, business goods and receivables, subtract the debts you enter, then compare the net to nisab. If you are at or above nisab, zakat due is 2.5% of that net. If you are below, the due amount is shown as zero.

Many contemporary scholars prefer gold-based nisab; others allow silver-based, which is usually a lower money threshold. Schools and local councils differ. Use the toggle to see both, then follow the view you trust or ask a scholar.

Not in every school. Hanafi practice often includes gold and silver jewellery; Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali views often exempt jewellery kept for personal adornment. The optional madhhab note on the page flags that difference but does not replace a ruling.

The standard rate of 2.5% (one fortieth) on the net zakatable total once nisab is met. Agricultural produce and livestock use different rates and are outside this calculator.

Yes. The Fetch live rates button calls the same metal-price API used by the gold price calculator for your selected currency. If the feed fails, keep or edit the manual per-gram prices.

No. Arithmetic runs in your browser. Copy and share only put text on your clipboard or into the device share sheet; nothing is stored on ToolBox servers.

No. It is a planning aid for common cash and metal-style assets. Edge cases (pensions, long-term debts, mixed jewellery, business partnerships) need a qualified opinion for your school and country.
