About this tool
A Kanban board turns a pile of work into a picture of flow: every task is a card, every stage of your process is a column, and moving a card from left to right is how work gets done. This one runs entirely in your browser. There is no account to create and nothing is uploaded - your boards, cards, checklists and even file attachments are stored on this device, and you can take a full backup whenever you like. It is built for real use rather than as a demo: keep separate boards for work, personal life and each client, set work-in-progress limits so a column warns you when it is overloaded, break cards down with checklists, and see the same cards as a sortable table or on a due-date calendar. Cards get an ID such as CARD-12 so you can refer to them in notes and messages, and every change is recorded in an activity log with a one-click undo if something goes wrong.
How to use this tool
- Create a boardPick a workflow template - Basic, Software, Content, Personal or Hiring - or load the sample demo board. You can rename, recolour, reorder or add columns at any time.
- Add cardsPress N, or click Add card at the bottom of a column, type a title and press Enter. Choose a card template such as Bug report to prefill a checklist and labels.
- Fill in the detailsClick a card to open it. Set priority, labels, due date and time, start date, estimate and assignees, write a Markdown description, add checklists, links and file attachments.
- Move work across the boardDrag cards between columns, or focus a card and press Alt + Left/Right. Cards entering a Done column get a completion date, and a WIP limit warns you when a column is overloaded.
- Filter, switch views and reviewSearch and filter by label, priority, assignee or due date, group the board into swimlanes, or switch to the Table or Calendar view. The Today panel lists what is overdue, due today and flagged.
- Back up your boardsOpen Backup, import & export to download a JSON backup (including attachments) or a CSV for Excel and Google Sheets. Restore it on any browser to move your boards between devices.

Common uses
- Running a personal Kanban for the week: Someday, This week, Today, Done.
- Tracking a small software project from backlog through review and QA to release.
- Planning a content calendar from idea to published post, with the calendar view showing publish dates.
- Managing a hiring pipeline, with one card per candidate and the CV attached.
- Keeping client work separate on its own board, and printing the board for a status meeting.
- Breaking a large task into a checklist, then promoting the bigger items into cards of their own.
Tips for better results
- Set a WIP limit on your "Doing" column. Starting less and finishing more is the core idea of Kanban.
- Archive finished cards rather than deleting them - the Archive panel keeps them searchable and restorable.
- Use the Today panel each morning: it pulls overdue, due-today and flagged cards from the whole board into one list.
- Save a card you create often as a card template from its ⋯ menu.
- Export a JSON backup now and then. It is the only copy of your boards outside this browser.
- Keyboard users: arrow keys move between cards, Enter opens one, Alt + arrows move it.
Mistakes to avoid
- Too many columns. Five to seven stages are usually enough; more columns just hide where the work is stuck.
- No WIP limits. Without one, "In progress" quietly becomes a second backlog.
- Clearing browser data without a backup. The board lives in browser storage, so clearing site data deletes it.
- Using one giant card for a project. Split it into cards or a checklist so progress is visible.
Available options
- Board templates: Basic, Software, Content, Personal, Hiring.
- Column rules: WIP limit, Done column, auto-label on entry, sort by due date, priority or newest.
- Board rules: block moving to Done until the checklist is complete; auto-archive Done cards after N days.
- Recurring cards: daily, weekly or monthly - the next card is created when the current one is done.
- Display: compact or comfortable cards, swimlanes, hide empty columns while filtering, reduced motion.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. There is no account, no trial and no limit on boards or cards. Open the page and start a board.
In your browser on this device: board data in localStorage and file attachments in IndexedDB. Nothing is sent to a server, so the board also works offline once the page has loaded.
There is no cloud sync, because there is no account. To move boards, export a JSON backup and import it on the other browser. You can also send a CSV export or a printed PDF snapshot to other people.
A work-in-progress limit is the maximum number of cards a column should hold. Set one from the column's ⋯ menu. When a column goes over it, its count turns red and a warning appears at the top of the board. Cards are never blocked from moving - the limit is a signal, not a lock.
Yes. Moves, deletes, archives, imports and edits can be undone with the Undo button, Ctrl + Z, or the Undo link in the notification. Deleted boards and cards can be brought back the same way until you leave the page.
Yes, up to 25 MB per file, plus a cover image per card. Files are kept in your browser's IndexedDB and are included in the JSON backup, so they move with your board.
Yes, through CSV. Only a Title column is required; Description, Column (or Status/List), Priority, Labels, Assignees, Start, Due, Estimate and Checklist are recognised when present. Unknown columns and labels are created for you.
Set Repeat on a card to daily, weekly or monthly. When the card reaches a Done column, a fresh copy is created in the first column with the due date moved on and the checklist reset.
Yes. Columns snap into place as you swipe across the board, and a short press-and-hold picks a card up to drag it. The card editor opens full screen on small screens.
Yes. Choose Print / save as PDF from the board menu. It prints a clean snapshot with each column as a list, respecting any filters you have applied.
The storage meter in Backup, import & storage shows how much space the board is using, and a warning appears before it runs out. If a save ever fails, the board tells you straight away so you can export a backup and archive old cards.
