Before / After Slider

Two photos. One drag. A comparison people actually trust.

Add your two photos

Same subject and framing works best - see the tip below.

info Tip: use two photos of the same subject and framing (same angle, same crop) for the cleanest comparison.

About this tool

Upload a before photo and an after photo, then drag a divider across the frame to compare them - the same interaction used by renovation, fitness, skincare and photo-editing accounts to show a transformation without posting two separate images. The divider is keyboard accessible as well as touch and mouse draggable, both photos are cover-cropped into a locked aspect ratio so the comparison stays visually aligned even when the source photos differ in size, and the finished comparison exports either as a single split image or as a side-by-side image. Everything happens in your browser.

How to use this tool

  1. Upload both photosAdd a Before photo and an After photo, or drag and drop each one onto its upload area.
  2. Drag the dividerClick or touch anywhere in the frame and drag, or tab to the handle and use the arrow keys.
  3. Lock an aspect ratio (optional)Pick Auto, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9 or 9:16 so both photos crop consistently into the same frame.
  4. ExportDownload the current split as one flattened image, or download both photos side by side.

Taking before and after photos that compare well

Use the same spot, the same angle, the same distance and the same lighting for both photos - otherwise the slider shows the change in conditions rather than the change you made. A tripod or a mark on the floor helps.

Export as a split image for platforms that show a single picture, or side by side when the two photos need to be seen in full.

Key features

  • Keyboard-accessible divider, not just a mouse-drag gimmick - tab to it and use arrow keys.
  • Aspect lock keeps both photos aligned in the same frame even when their original dimensions differ.
  • Two distinct export modes: a flattened split image at the current divider position, and a side-by-side image.
  • Editable Before/After labels baked into the exported image.
  • Runs entirely client-side - neither photo is ever uploaded.

Common uses

  • Before/after renovation, cleaning or restoration photos.
  • Fitness or physical transformation progress comparisons.
  • Photo-editing or retouching comparisons for a portfolio.
  • Product comparisons where a visual side-by-side communicates a change better than text.

Tips for better results

  • Use two photos of the same subject, angle and framing for the cleanest, most convincing comparison.
  • Lock the aspect ratio if your two photos were shot at different crops or orientations.
  • Use Swap if you uploaded the photos in the wrong order rather than re-uploading.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Comparing two photos shot from noticeably different angles or distances - the slider cannot correct for that, only the crop.
  • Leaving the aspect ratio on Auto when the two photos have very different proportions, which can distort the framing.

Frequently asked questions

No. Both photos are read and rendered entirely in your browser, including the final PNG export. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Yes. Tab to the slider handle and use the arrow keys, Home and End to move the divider precisely.

"Download split" flattens the current divider position into one image. "Download side-by-side" exports both full photos next to each other instead.

It forces both photos into the same width-to-height ratio using a center crop, so the comparison stays visually aligned even if the original photos have different dimensions.

Yes - both label fields are editable and the text you enter is baked into the downloaded image.

Yes. The divider can be dragged with touch the same way as a mouse, and it works with any screen size.

Use the same spot, angle, distance and lighting for both shots, ideally with the camera on a tripod or a marked position. Matching conditions make the change itself the only difference.

Renovation and cleaning companies, hairdressers and beauty salons, personal trainers, photographers and retouchers, landscapers and car detailers - anyone whose work is a visible change.

Usually, if they are genuine and not misleading. Health, cosmetics and weight-loss claims are regulated in many countries, so avoid editing the 'after' photo beyond what the service actually achieved.
