- No bleed - most print shops want 0.125 in (3 mm). Turn on "Add bleed" for PDF/PNG you send to a printer.

- CMYK: this design uses very bright colours. Printers convert RGB to CMYK and neon blues, greens and pinks print duller - ask for a proof.

Business card sizes and print settings
The standard size is 3.5 x 2 inches (89 x 51 mm) in the US and Canada and 85 x 55 mm in the UK and most of Europe. Printers ask for a bleed - usually 3 mm (0.125 inch) of background beyond the trim line - so there is no white edge after cutting, and for important text to stay a few millimetres inside it.
For home printing, use a 10-up sheet on thick card stock (around 300 gsm) and cut along the guides. For larger runs, upload the PDF to a print service.

Tips for better results
- Keep it to the essentials. Four clear contact lines are read; ten are not - hide the rest.
- Turn on bleed before sending a file to a print shop, and keep text inside the dashed safe line.
- Test the QR code with your own phone before you print a box of cards.
- For the QR code, "Website" mode makes a much simpler code than a full contact card - it scans better when printed small.
- Order a small batch first. Colours look different on card stock than on a screen.
Mistakes to avoid
- Printing a screen-resolution image. Anything under 300 DPI prints soft.
- Sending a file without bleed to a printer that trims to the edge - a hairline of white shows up.
- Placing important details right at the edge, where trimming can cut them off.
- Printing a 10-up sheet with "fit to page" switched on, which shrinks every card off size.
