Turn a photo into a buildable LEGO mosaic. Every colour in your image is matched to the nearest real LEGO brick colour from the current production range, so the parts list this produces is something you can actually order and build.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The palette uses official LEGO colour names and IDs from bricks currently in production, so every colour in the parts list can be bought. Retired colours are deliberately excluded - matching to a brick you cannot obtain would make the plan useless.
LEGO has a limited palette, so smooth gradients would otherwise turn into flat bands of colour. Dithering scatters the rounding error into neighbouring studs, which the eye blends back into shading. It makes skin tones and skies look far more natural, at the cost of a slightly busier pattern.
A 48-stud width is a good balance and fits a standard baseplate. Larger sizes capture more detail but the part count grows quickly - doubling the width roughly quadruples the number of bricks needed.
Download the PNG for the visual plan and use 'Copy list' for the part counts. Build row by row from the top of the image. 1x1 plates on a baseplate are the usual approach for mosaics.
