About this tool

Type up to four short lines of text, drop in a glowing icon shape like a heart or lightning bolt, or combine both, and get a realistic neon sign rendered on a brick wall, dark concrete, a rain-slicked street with a reflection, or plain black. The glow is built from layered canvas passes with increasing blur rather than WebGL, so it stays fast enough to redraw as you type. Pick from six font styles, one of eight ready-made icon shapes, a neon color from twelve presets or any custom hue, and a size preset for square posts, vertical stories or widescreen banners, then download a still PNG - the optional flicker animation is preview-only and never gets baked into the export.

How to use this tool

  1. Choose text, icon or bothSwitch between a text sign, a glowing icon shape (heart, star, bolt, arrow, crown and more) or both together.
  2. Type your text and pick a fontUp to four lines, auto-shrunk to fit, in Script, Bold Sans, Display, Retro Mono, Elegant Italic or Block Caps.
  3. Pick a neon colorChoose from twelve neon color presets or drag the custom hue slider for any shade.
  4. Choose a background and sizeBrick, concrete, wet street or plain black, in 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9.
  5. DownloadExport a still PNG at the selected size - flicker is a preview-only effect and is never included in the download.

Designing a neon sign that reads well

Short words and names look best in neon: one to three words per line, and no more than four lines. Script fonts look like real bent glass tubing; bold sans-serif fonts are easier to read from a distance.

Use the image for social posts, event invitations or as a preview before ordering a real LED neon sign.

Key features

  • Layered canvas glow instead of WebGL, so it renders instantly on any device.
  • Text, icon-shape or combined sign types, with eight ready-made glowing icons like hearts, stars and crowns.
  • Six font styles and twelve neon color presets, plus a full custom hue slider.
  • Four background textures, including a wet-street option with a real reflection of the glowing sign.
  • Three size presets covering vertical stories, square posts and widescreen banners.
  • Runs entirely in your browser - nothing is uploaded.

Common uses

  • A neon-style logo or wordmark for a shop, bar or event.
  • A glowing icon graphic, like a neon heart or open sign, for stories or feed posts.
  • Story or feed graphics with a glowing text effect.
  • A quick mockup of what a real neon sign design might look like.

Tips for better results

  • Shorter lines glow more convincingly - long lines shrink to fit and lose some of the effect's punch.
  • The wet-street background looks best with brighter, saturated colors like pink, blue or green.
  • Combine an icon shape with a short text line for a more finished, professionally designed look.
  • Turn off the watermark toggle if you plan to add your own branding afterward.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the preview flicker animation to appear in the downloaded PNG - downloads are always a single still frame by design.
  • Using very long text - it will auto-shrink to fit, which can make the glow feel thin at four lines.

Frequently asked questions

No. The flicker toggle only affects the on-screen preview. Every download is a single static PNG at full brightness.

No. The glow is built from ordinary 2D canvas shapes and text drawn several times with increasing blur, which keeps it fast on any device.

Yes - switch the sign type to "Icon" to render just the glowing shape, or "Both" to combine it with your text.

Yes - the twelve presets are shortcuts, but the hue slider lets you pick any color around the full color wheel.

No. Everything, including the final image, is generated locally in your browser.

It draws a dim, fading mirror of your sign below it to simulate a reflection on rain-slicked pavement, in addition to the base texture.

Yes, as a preview. Custom LED neon makers usually ask for the text, font style and colour - sharing your mockup shows them exactly what you want, though their available fonts may differ.

Short phrases of one to four words, such as a name, 'Open', or a quote. Script fonts look most like real bent neon tubes; long sentences become hard to read when they glow.

Café menus, event invitations, YouTube banners, Twitch overlays, wedding signage previews and social media posts that need an eye-catching title card.
